Chefs are encouraged to submit recipes that showcase ways the average Maryland family can prepare delicious, nutritious meals with locally produced food at home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">\u201cMaryland\u2019s farmers, watermen, and chefs produce an incredible bounty that is second to none,\u201d said <strong>Governor Wes Moore<\/strong>. \u201cI invite chefs from across the state to submit their most creative recipes using fresh, local ingredients as I invite all Marylanders to help strengthen the state\u2019s economy and buy local.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Recipes will be chosen in each of the following categories: appetizer, main dish, side dish or salad, and dessert. Original recipes will be selected based on simplicity, creativity, availability of ingredients, geographic representation, and maximum use of local ingredients.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">\u201cEating locally is not only better for you, it\u2019s also an economic driver,\u201d said <strong>Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks<\/strong>. \u201cSupporting our farms by buying local is a tasty way to keep your dollars in Maryland; this week is a celebration of that.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Culinary high school and college teams are encouraged to submit recipes. Student teams submitting poultry recipes may be eligible to receive a donation of poultry from a member of the <strong>Delmarva Chicken Association<\/strong> if they are selected to participate in the Governor\u2019s cookout (limited to one high school and one college team).<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Selected teams will be invited to provide, prepare, and share their dish at the Governor\u2019s cookout. Complete rules of entry and additional information are available on the\u00a0department&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/marylandsbest.maryland.gov\/governors-buy-local-cookout\/\">website<\/a>.\u00a0Recipes must be submitted using this<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/awrwvLNxXHeTRMiQ9\"> online form<\/a> by May 29.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', serif\">Previously submitted recipes are not eligible.
