Grants are also available to offset costs associated with injecting liquid manure into the soil to prevent nutrient runoff and reduce odors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> fall manure transport and injection projects must be completed by <\/span><b>December 15. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Claims for payment should be submitted to the department\u2019s Conservation Grants Office by <\/span><b>January 15, 2024.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Key Program Highlights:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Receiving farms\/businesses can receive <\/span><b>up to $28\/ton<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to transport poultry manure to qualifying fields with acceptable soil phosphorus levels or alternative use projects that can use the product safely.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cost-share grants to transport dairy and livestock manure to qualifying fields cover up to 87.5% of eligible costs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">FastTrack<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and standard transport options are available for both poultry and dairy\/livestock manure.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Farmers can receive up to<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">$45\/acre for costs associated with injecting liquid manure into the soil. Please note that poultry manure is not eligible for this option due to its low moisture content.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">FastTrack<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (haul now, apply later) applications for poultry and dairy\/livestock manure can be downloaded from the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mda.maryland.gov\/resource_conservation\/Pages\/manure_management.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. For special circumstances where applicants are not eligible for Fast Track, farmers should contact their local <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mda.maryland.gov\/resource_conservation\/Pages\/technical_assistance.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">soil conservation district<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to apply for our standard grants. These grants require pre-approval before manure is transported or injected.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Department\u2019s Conservation Grants Program administers manure transport and injection grants. Applicants must be in good standing with the program and in compliance with Maryland\u2019s nutrient management regulations.
