The 30-minute film will debut on MPT-HD and will be available to view live and on-demand using MPT\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpt.org\/anywhere\/live-stream-mpt\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">livestream<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/video.mpt.tv\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">online video player<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpt.org\/anywhere\/pbs-app\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PBS App<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eatin\u2019 Blue Catfish: Chesapeake Style<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> features an unwelcome guest in the Chesapeake Bay that has become a welcome addition to menus, grocery stores, and dinner plates across Maryland. It<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is the fifth installment<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of MPT\u2019s popular <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eatin\u2019<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> culinary series, which includes programs that have premiered during Chesapeake Bay Week since 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Though Chesapeake cuisine is mostly known for its iconic native species such as blue crabs, oysters, and rockfish, local chefs are now touting the blue catfish as well. Researchers from the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maryland Department of Natural Resources<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salisbury.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Salisbury University<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> uncover the extent to which the population of this invasive species has mushroomed, threatening to upset the biological balance of the bay. Now, a coalition of wildlife managers, seafood marketers, commercial watermen, and recreational fishers have come together to tackle the problem, and they\u2019ve found a solution that is as tasty as it is ecologically beneficial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Viewers go into the kitchens of Baltimore restaurants such as Heather Smith\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/swill.baltimore\/?hl=en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Swill<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in Pigtown, Zach Mills\u2019 and Pat Hudson\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/truechesapeake.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">True Chesapeake Oyster Co.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in Hampden, and Nick Schauman\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelocaloyster.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Local Oyster<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in Mount Vernon and Locust Point as they test creative and delicious ways to prepare and serve this savory predator. Chef Billy Kelley, of Davidsonville\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.renditionsgolf.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Renditions Golf Course<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> restaurant, gives a sneak peek into his preparation for a blue catfish cooking competition sponsored by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marylandrestaurants.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Restaurant Association of Maryland<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
