Viewers can watch on MPT-HD and online at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EPhiyv-96_s\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">mpt.org\/livestream<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The weekly series takes viewers on a journey across the Free State, telling interesting stories about the farms, people, and technology required to sustain and grow agriculture in Maryland, the number one commercial industry in the state.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Joanne Clendining, who has earned two Emmy\u00ae awards from the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts &amp; Sciences for her work on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maryland Farm &amp; Harvest<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, returns as host. She is joined by Al Spoler, who handles duties for each episode\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Local Buy<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> segment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With introductions filmed at<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoober.com\/HooberLocations\/NewWindsor-MD\"> <b>Hoober, Inc.<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a farm equipment dealer in <\/span><b>New Windsor (Carroll County),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the December 7 episode features the following segments:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><i>Plein Air Easton Farm Painting Contest<\/i><\/b><b> (Talbot County).<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Since the early 2000s, artists have gathered for the annual<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pleinaireaston.com\/\"> <b>Plein Air Easton<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">painting competition. Celebrating its seventeenth year, the competition enables artists to showcase the beauty of Maryland farms through outdoor landscape painting. Organizers Jessica Bells of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/avalonfoundation.org\/\"><b>The Avalon Foundation<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and Shannon Dill of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.umd.edu\/\"><b>University of Maryland Extension<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> explain how the event promotes a better understanding and appreciation of local agriculture. Participating artists<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/davidcsont.blogspot.com\/\"> <b>David Csont<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryveigastudio.com\/\"><b>Mary Veiga<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">discuss their love of the outdoors and the chance to paint the unique scenery of Maryland farms. Once the competition ends, the artwork is displayed at a farm-to-table dinner at<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/triplecreekwinery.com\/\"> <b>Triple Creek Winery<\/b><\/a><b> in Cordova<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Here, farmer Alex Spies of the winery expresses appreciation for the talented painters and watches as they create art in real-time. Afterward, there\u2019s a visit to the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/academyartmuseum.org\/\"> <b>Academy Art Museum<\/b><\/a><b> in Easton<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, where some of the competition artwork is on display.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><b><i>Falcon Ridge Farm<\/i><\/b><b> (Carroll County). <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/falconridgefruit\"> <b>Falcon Ridge Farm<\/b><\/a><b> in Westminster<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Stanton Gill and Nancy MacBride specialize in growing a little bit of, well, everything! Their 105-acre orchard features a wide variety of unusual fruits not commonly seen in Maryland, such as apricots, currants, Asian pears, quince, and hearty kiwis, to name a few. Stanton gives viewers a tour of the farm\u2019s many trees and explains unconventional growing methods successfully developed by the farm. Then, Stanton and Nancy take their weekly trip to the<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.olneyfarmersmarket.com\/\"> <b>Olney Farmers &amp; Artists Market<\/b><\/a><b> in Montgomery County<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> where happy customers rush to buy the farm\u2019s wide variety of fruit.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b><i>The Way it Works: Tractor Fuels<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Segment host Joe Ligo tops off the tank as he explains how most modern tractors still rely on diesel fuel while at the same time innovative companies are creating battery-powered electric tractors for the farms of the future.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b><i>Tractor Test Drive with MotorWeek <\/i><\/b><b>(Carroll County)<\/b> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maryland Farm &amp; Harvest<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> teams up with MPT sister series <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MotorWeek<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for a tractor test drive. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MotorWeek<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> reporter Greg Carloss is used to driving the latest and greatest cars, trucks, and SUVs, but even Greg was impressed when he got behind the wheel of a new Case IH Magnum 280 at <\/span><b>Hoober Inc. in New Windsor.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0 Priced around $200,000, this machine costs nearly as much as a Bentley, but it&#8217;s no plaything. Modern tractors are meant to be workhorses. With the help of Store Manager Brian Gott and Precision Ag Specialist Tyler Rahmer, Greg learns about cutting-edge features on these vehicles used to increase productivity.
