Spraying Planned for Evening of September 1<\/i><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/b>ANNAPOLIS, MD<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 The Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA), <\/span>in cooperation with the Prince George\u2019s County Health Department, <\/span>will expand mosquito control services in multiple areas due to a public health concern over the potential for mosquito-borne diseases.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) truck-based spraying to control adult mosquitoes is planned for the evening of <\/span>Wednesday, September 1,<\/b> within a one-mile radius of the following intersections:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Prince Place and Campus Way South<\/b> (including parts of <\/span>Largo <\/b>and <\/span>Kettering<\/b>)<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Shadystone Terrace and Woodmore Road<\/b> (including parts of <\/span>Bowie <\/b>and <\/span>Mitchellville<\/b>)<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Amber Meadows Drive and Alstead Lane<\/b> (including parts of <\/span>Bowie<\/b>)<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Long Ridge Lane and Lyle Lane<\/b> (including parts of <\/span>Bowie <\/b>and <\/span>Fairwood<\/b>)<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Overchase Lane and Oat Farm Court<\/b> (including parts of <\/span>Bowie<\/b>)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Spraying will occur after 7:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, spraying will be rescheduled for the next available evening. Any existing spray exemptions in the area will be temporarily suspended.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Mosquito Control personnel will use a permethrin-based solution that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency <\/span>has approved<\/span><\/a> for use in public health mosquito control programs without posing unreasonable risks to human health. However, out of an abundance of caution, the department recommends avoiding outdoor activities during spraying.<\/span><\/p>\n

    While not all mosquitoes carry diseases, MDA suggests that residents take precautions to minimize their exposure to mosquito bites. These measures include:<\/span><\/p>\n
