A follow-up episode in this two-part series will air on January 26.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Much of the episode was produced using social distancing procedures. Producers conducted interviews via video chat, farmers supplied photos and video, and a limited amount of field production was done while applying health and safety precautions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><b><i>Maryland Farm &amp; Harvest<\/i><\/b><b>: Agriculture and COVID-19<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> episode features the following segments:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><b>How COVID-19 is affecting large grain, poultry, and dairy farms. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During this segment, the series checks in with grain farmer Jason Scott of <\/span><b>Walnut Hill Farms <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in <\/span><b>Dorchester County<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, who is keeping an eye on volatile commodity markets and world trade as he forges ahead with planting. Next, viewers hear from poultry farmer Jenny Rhodes of <\/span><b>Deerfield Farm <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in<\/span><b> Queen Anne\u2019s County<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and Katie Dotterer-Pyle of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cowcomfortinndairy.com\/\"> <b>Cow Comfort Inn Dairy<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in<\/span><b> Carroll County <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">about supply chain problems that are causing costly bottlenecks for both milk and meat production.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>COVID-19 and food safety. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During this segment, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maryland Farm &amp; Harvest<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> connects with<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.graulsmarket.com\/cape-st-claire1.html\"> <b>Graul&#8217;s Market<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in<\/span><b> Anne Arundel County<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to see how local farms are supplying fresh produce to keep grocery store shelves full, even as consumer buying habits rapidly change. From there, Ashley Genova of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.godfreysfarm.com\/\"> <b>Godfrey&#8217;s Farm<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in<\/span><b> Queen Anne\u2019s County<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> explains how sanitation regulations that farmers have been following for years are helping keep food safe.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<p><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>COVID-19 and direct farm sales. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Local Buy segment host Al Spoler visits<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/marylandsbest.maryland.gov\/producer\/32nd-street-waverly-farmers-market\/\"> <b>Waverly Farmers Market<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in<\/span><b> Baltimore City<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to see how markets are adapting to social distancing rules so they can still provide healthy, farm-fresh food. Al talks to David and Emily Hochheimer at<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackrockorchard.com\/#\/\"> <b>Black Rock Orchard<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in <\/span><b>Carroll County<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to find out how the pandemic has affected their fruit sales. Next, Tony Brusco of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/southmountaincreamery.com\/\"> <b>South Mountain Creamery<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in <\/span><b>Frederick County <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">explains how the number of customers using his dairy and meat delivery service has doubled, allowing him to expand his business to meet demand.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The episode ends with a special tribute video to farmers, acknowledging and thanking them for their hard work as they carry out the essential job of feeding the people of Maryland.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nearly 10 million viewers have tuned in to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maryland Farm &amp; Harvest<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> since its 2013 debut.
