MPT\u2019s production team filmed episode segments at more than four dozen farms in preparation for its seventh season.<\/p>\n<p>The episode opens with introductions at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.starbright-farm.com\/\">Star Bright Farm<\/a> in Baltimore County\u2019s <strong>White Hall <\/strong>community. Other segments featured on this week\u2019s beverage-themed episode include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Paw Paw Lemonade<\/em><\/strong> (<strong>Allegany County)<\/strong>: The paw paw is a unique fruit found in the wild forests of Maryland. Its flavor is best described as a cross between a banana and a mango with a creamy texture. While paw paws are difficult to grow, this has not stopped 90-year-old farmer John Popenoe from planting a small orchard in <strong>Cumberland<\/strong>. His passion for paw paws connected him with Todd Helmick of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wmdlemonade.com\/\">Western Maryland Lemonade<\/a>, who has concocted a refreshing drink using this special fruit.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong><em>Milk: Farm-to-Bottle<\/em><\/strong><strong> (Washington County and Prince George\u2019s counties):<\/strong> Milk is the state of Maryland\u2019s official beverage. At <strong>Shenandoah Jerseys <\/strong>in <strong>Boonsboro, <\/strong>farmers Jessica Stiles Hess and JR Hess know good milk comes from happy cows, so they use technology to help effectively manage their herd of approximately 100 cattle. Viewers see how robots help feed and milk the cows, and then follow along as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdvamilk.com\/\">Maryland &amp; Virginia Milk Producers Co-Op<\/a> in <strong>Landover<\/strong> processes and bottles milk from the Hess farm and others throughout the region.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong><em>Creating a Vineyard<\/em><\/strong><strong> (Montgomery and Carroll counties): <\/strong>It takes passion and science to grow grapes, and the farmers behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.burnthill.farm\/\">The Burnt Hill Project<\/a> in <strong>Clarksburg<\/strong> have both. After founding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oldwestminster.com\/\">Old Westminster Winery<\/a> in <strong>New Windsor<\/strong>, siblings Drew Baker, Lisa Hinton, and Ashli Johnson wanted to plant a vineyard that would eventually redefine American wine. The series visits this new vineyard to see why the perfect hillside is necessary for growing grapes and how this family found one right in Montgomery County.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong><em>The Local Buy: Kombucha Tea<\/em><\/strong> <strong>(Baltimore County): <\/strong>Segment host Al Spoler learns about kombucha, a health drink that has exploded in popularity across the country. First, Al visits <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hexferments.com\/\">Hex Ferments<\/a> to see how kombucha is made, then he\u2019s off to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.starbright-farm.com\/\">Star Bright Farm<\/a> in <strong>White Hall<\/strong>, where they are growing a special herb, holy basil, for one of Hex\u2019s kombucha recipes.
