During the past year, MPT\u2019s production team has filmed episode segments at more than four dozen farms in preparation for the new season. Segments featured on the upcoming episode are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ocean City Fishing Expedition <em>(Worcester County)<\/em>:<\/strong> In this segment, Maryland Farm &amp; Harvest climbs aboard as Captain Monty Hawkins of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/morningstarfishing.com\/\">Morning Star Fishing<\/a><\/strong> in Ocean City takes a group of eager anglers out for a day of fishing 20 miles off shore. Along the way, viewers learn about Captain Monty\u2019s other passion \u2013 the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocreefs.org\/\">Ocean City Reef Foundation<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 and watch as he and his crew work to replace coral reef wiped out through years of destructive commercial fishing practices.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Delmarva Land and Litter Challenge<\/strong> <strong><em>(Kent County)<\/em>:<\/strong> The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/delmarvalandandlitter.net\/\">Delmarva Land and Litter Challenge<\/a><\/strong> is a partnership among groups that were once at odds with one another. Now farmers, conservationists, government officials, agri-business, and other stakeholders have come together to focus on how farming practices in Maryland affect the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Viewers meet farmer Allen Davis of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/richlevelsgrain\/\">Rich Levels Grain, Inc.<\/a><\/strong> and <strong>Rich Levels Poultry<\/strong> of Galena and Jeff Horstman, executive director of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorerivers.org\/\">ShoreRivers<\/a><\/strong>, to get their perspectives on the Delmarva partnership\u2019s successes and future challenges.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong>Close Encounters with Agriculture <em>(Montgomery County)<\/em>:<\/strong> Viewers follow a group of curious Montgomery County fourth graders as they learn about agriculture through a hands-on program known as \u201cClose Encounters with Agriculture.\u201d The program runs each fall at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montgomeryparks.org\/parks-and-trails\/agricultural-history-farm-park\/\">Agricultural History Farm Park<\/a><\/strong> in Derwood. Since 1993, it has served more than 80,000 students.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><strong><em>The Local Buy:<\/em><\/strong><strong> Food Forest <em>(Prince George\u2019s County)<\/em>:<\/strong> During this week\u2019s <em>The Local Buy<\/em>, segment host Al Spoler discovers the bounty of the forest. It may not look like farming as we know it, and that\u2019s because it\u2019s not supposed to. Instead, the team at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.forested.us\/\">Forested<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 a 10-acre food forest in Bowie \u2013 is intent on proving that there\u2019s more than one way to feed the world. After helping to harvest chestnuts, Al gets a taste of forest garden hash, using chestnut and other forest crops. The recipe is available to viewers at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mpt.org\/programs\/farm\/recipes\/\">mpt.org\/farm<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Maryland Farm &amp; Harvest<\/em><\/strong><strong> airs on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. on MPT-HD<\/strong> and is rebroadcast on Thursdays at 11:30 p.m. and Sundays at 6 a.m. Each show also airs on <strong>MPT2<\/strong> on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. More information about the series is available at <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mpt.org\/programs\/farm\/\">mpt.org\/farm<\/a><\/em>, and viewers can join the conversation on social media at the hashtag <strong><em>#MDFarmHarvestFans<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/mda.maryland.gov\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Maryland Department of Agriculture<\/a> is MPT&#8217;s co-production partner for <em>Maryland Farm &amp; Harvest<\/em>.
