ANNAPOLIS, MD<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Maryland Department of Agriculture honored two employees for their exceptional service and dedication to the department\u2019s mission and goals this quarter. Kevin Whited\u00a0(Salisbury Animal Health Lab)<\/em>\u00a0and Kimberly Lambert\u00a0(Frederick Animal Health Lab)<\/em>\u00a0were both nominated by their coworker Kimberly Abramo\u00a0(Animal Health)<\/em>\u00a0for going above and beyond the expectations of their positions.<\/p>\n

Deputy Secretary Julie Oberg announced the award winners during the department\u2019s general staff meeting. More on the awardees below:<\/p>\n

Kevin Whited – Employee of the Quarter Outstanding Performance<\/p><\/div>\n

Outstanding Performance Award:
\n<\/strong>Kevin Whited\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Salisbury Animal Health Lab,\u00a0Agricultural Laboratory Scientist III<\/em><\/p>\n

Kevin Whited serves as an agricultural laboratory scientist in the Maryland Department of Agriculture\u2019s Salisbury Animal Health Lab. Kevin started providing quality assurance guidance to the lab last year and has played a critical role in helping to increase compliance. With Kevin\u2019s help, the Salisbury Animal Health Lab recently achieved accreditation for the updated ISO\/IEC 17025: 2017 standard by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). The Salisbury Animal Health Lab is the first animal health diagnostic laboratory in the country to be accredited for this new standard through A2LA. Kevin is receiving the Employee of the Quarter Outstanding Performance Award for the instrumental role he played in helping the lab achieve this higher quality standard.<\/p>\n

Kimberly Lambert – Employee of the Quarter Outstanding Performance<\/p><\/div>\n

Outstanding Performance Award:
\n<\/strong>Kimberly Lambert\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Frederick Animal Health Lab,\u00a0Agricultural Laboratory Scientist Advanced<\/em><\/p>\n

Kimberly Lambert serves as an advanced agricultural laboratory scientist in the Maryland Department of Agriculture\u2019s Frederick Animal Health Lab. Kimberly has steered the lab\u2019s quality assurance activities for the past five years and has been instrumental in maintaining the\u00a0lab\u2019s accreditation. Thanks to her efforts, the Frederick Animal Health Lab was recently\u00a0re-accredited\u00a0and achieved compliance with the new ISO\/IEC 17025: 2017 standard assessed by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation \u2013 the second animal health diagnostic laboratory in the nation to do so. Kimberly is receiving the Employee of the Quarter Outstanding Performance Award for her dedication to ensuring the Animal Health Program is always working to improve their quality standards and for the crucial role she played in helping the Frederick Animal Health Lab meet compliance for the updated quality standard.<\/p>\n
