The Envirothon is a rigorous two-day, outdoor natural resources competition for teens who are passionate about the outdoors and the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Student teams will compete in five areas of environmental studies: soil\/land use, aquatics ecology, forestry, wildlife, and this year\u2019s environmental issue: Western Rangeland and Pasture Management. The winning team will represent Maryland at the North American Envirothon which will be held at Idaho State University in July.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>What:\u00a0<\/strong>The 28<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Maryland Envirothon competition for high school students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where:\u00a0<\/strong>Western Maryland 4-H Education Center in Garrett County <em>(Located off of Maryland Route 495 near the town of Swanton)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>When:<br \/>\n<\/strong>June 14 \u2013 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. \u2013 <strong><em>Student Field Training<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>June 15 \u2013 8 a.m. to Noon \u2013 <strong><em>Competition<\/em><\/strong><strong><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>June 15 \u2013 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. \u2013 <strong><em>Awards Presentation<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Who:\u00a0<\/strong>Five-member teams that won their local competition are competing for the state title in the following counties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allegany County<\/li>\n<li>Anne Arundel County<\/li>\n<li>Calvert County<\/li>\n<li>Carroll County<\/li>\n<li>Cecil County<\/li>\n<li>Charles County<\/li>\n<li>Eastern Shore<\/li>\n<li>Frederick County<\/li>\n<li>Garrett County<\/li>\n<li>Harford County<\/li>\n<li>Howard County<\/li>\n<li>Montgomery County<\/li>\n<li>Prince George\u2019s County<\/li>\n<li>St Mary\u2019s County<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NOTE TO EDITORS:<\/strong> During the event, contact: Barry Burch at 240-215-5004 or barronb29@aol.
