Passing this exam is required to become certified as a Compost Facility Operator. Individuals who want to take the exam must register with Phil Davidson, Registration Supervisor, at\u00a0<a href=\"tel:%28410%29%20841-2721\">(410) 841-2721<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:philip.davidson@maryland.gov\">philip.davidson@maryland.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The State of Maryland regulates the commercial composting process to ensure that the finished product will benefit plants and customers as intended. Those products are registered with the department\u2019s State Chemist as soil conditioners or composts.
