The Envirothon is a rigorous two-day, outdoor natural resources competition for teens who are passionate about the outdoors and the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Student teams will compete in five areas of environmental studies: soil\/land use, aquatics ecology, forestry, wildlife, and this year\u2019s environmental issue: Agricultural Soil and Water Conservation Stewardship.\u00a0 The winning team will represent Maryland at the North American Envirothon which will be held at Mount St. Mary\u2019s University in Emmitsburg later this summer.<br \/>\n________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT:<\/strong> \u00a0The 27<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Maryland Envirothon competition for high school students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHEN:<\/strong>\u00a0 June 15, 1-5 p.m.; Student Field Training<br \/>\nJune 16, 8-11:30 a.m.; Competition<br \/>\nJune 16, 1-2 p.m.; Awards Presentation<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHERE:<\/strong> \u00a0Camp Pecometh, 136 Bookers Wharf Road, Centreville, MD 21617 (Queen Anne\u2019s County)<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHO:<\/strong> \u00a0Five-member teams that won their county competition are competing for the state title:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allegany County: Allegany High School \u201cMac N\u2019 Cheese\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Anne Arundel County: South River High School \u201cSeahawks\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Calvert County: Calvert High School<\/li>\n<li>Carroll County: Venturing Crew 202<\/li>\n<li>Cecil County: The Tome School \u201cTitans\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Charles County: La Plata High School \u201cKitchen Midden\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Frederick County: Catoctin High School \u201cMudcats\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Garrett County: Northern Garrett High School \u201cNorthern Lights\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Harford County: North Harford High School<\/li>\n<li>Kent County: Kent County High School<\/li>\n<li>Montgomery County: Montgomery Blair High School \u201cDuck Gizzards\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Prince George\u2019s County: Eleanor Roosevelt High School<\/li>\n<li>Queen Anne\u2019s County: Queen Anne\u2019s County High School \u201cThe Lions\u201d<\/li>\n<li>St Mary\u2019s County: Great Hills High School<\/li>\n<li>Washington County: Boonsboro High School \u201cMaple Tappers\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Wicomico County: Parkside High School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NOTE TO EDITORS:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0June 15, from 1\u00a0to 5 p.m. is the best day for photos and interviews with students. <\/strong>During the event, contact: Barry Burch at 240-215-5004 or barronb29@aol.
