These regulations went into effect February 13.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The updated regulations add a total of four new species to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 lists established by the original invasive plant regulations (<a href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mda\/press-release\/2016\/04\/01\/new-invasive-plant-regulations-in-effect-april-11\/\">April 2016<\/a>). Additionally, the updated regulations establish that any business providing landscape services, that plant or supply a Tier 2 listed plant, must provide a <a href=\"http:\/\/mda.maryland.gov\/plants-pests\/Documents\/Tier2InvasivePlantList.pdf\">full list of Tier 2 species<\/a> to the customer requesting the service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Tier 1 additions<\/strong> \u2013 effective Feb. 14, 2018<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Euonymus fortunei<\/em>, a.k.a. wintercreeper<\/li>\n<li><em>Lonicera maackii<\/em>, a.k.a. Amur honeysuckle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Tier 2 additions<\/strong> \u2013 effective May 14, 2017<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Cytisus scoparius<\/em>\u00b8 a.k.a. Scotch broom<\/li>\n<li><em>Nandina domestica<\/em>, a.k.a. heavenly bamboo<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p align=\"left\">Weed risk assessments are ongoing, and additional plant species will be added to the lists through the regulatory process as they are completed and approved. These science-based assessments are the foundation for decisions regarding a plant\u2019s invasive status in the state.
