\nANNAPOLIS, MD (Oct. 31, 2016)<\/strong> \u2013 Secretary Joe Bartenfelder and officials from the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs and MidAtlantic Farm Credit will honor U.S. Army veteran Bob Miller of Nice Farms Creamery at an event Wednesday, November 2,\u00a0in Easton. Miller is the first participant in the Maryland\u2019s Best Homegrown By Heroes program, and will be presented with an official placard to display at his farm.<\/p>\n

The Maryland Department of Agriculture\u2019s family of Maryland\u2019s Best logos were created to help farmers identify their products as locally grown. The addition of the Homegrown by Heroes logo expands on this effort and recognizes a small but important group of farmers who have served honorably and returned to the land.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Farmer Veteran Coalition was granted the honor of administering the Homegrown By Heroes program nationally on Veterans Day 2013. The program boasts over 550 members in 48 states plus Puerto Rico. For more information on the program, visit the Farmer Veteran Coalition website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
