\"Veterinary<\/a>ANNAPOLIS, MD <\/strong>\u2013 \u00a0Proposed regulations that will reduce the registration fees of veterinary technicians and licensing fees for veterinary hospitals were published in today\u2019s Maryland Register<\/em><\/a>. Fees for veterinary technicians, who must register every three years, will be reduced from $75 to $60. Fees for veterinary hospitals, which must renew their licenses annually, will be reduced from $215 to $150 a year. About 200 vet techs and about 500 hospitals pay fees to the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners every year.<\/p>\n

Licensing fees for veterinary hospitals and registration fees for vet techs are due July 1 of every year. These reductions will be effective for those renewing next year, by July 1, 2017. Read the regulations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In September 2015, Governor Larry Hogan announced a plan to reduce or eliminate a number of fees across state government. At that time, the annual licensing fees for veterinarians was reduced by $65. In May 2016, Governor Hogan announced a second round of fee reductions or eliminations. This regulation affecting veterinary technicians and hospitals is part of the second round of reductions.<\/p>\n
