{"id":2019,"date":"2010-09-07T19:07:33","date_gmt":"2010-09-07T19:07:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mda\/?p=2019"},"modified":"2012-10-10T19:10:06","modified_gmt":"2012-10-10T19:10:06","slug":"media-advisory-get-ready-kids-fresh-local-lunches-are-coming-to-your-school-cafeteria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mda\/press-release\/2010\/09\/07\/media-advisory-get-ready-kids-fresh-local-lunches-are-coming-to-your-school-cafeteria\/","title":{"rendered":"MEDIA ADVISORY: Get Ready Kids&#8217; Fresh, Local Lunches Are Coming to Your School Cafeteria!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><em>Maryland Homegrown School Lunch Week Brings Fresh Maryland Food to Public Schools<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>ANNAPOLIS, MD (September 7, 2010) \u2013 School lunches are getting a makeover this fall with more interesting and more nutritious foods.\u00a0 School children in hundreds of public schools across Maryland will get a taste of fresh, Maryland-grown and produced food in their lunches during the third annual Maryland Homegrown School Lunch Week, September 13-17.\u00a0 A kick-off celebration with special classroom educational activities and local lunch with students, farmers, and federal, state and local officials will take place at Edgewood Elementary School in Harford County from 11:00 a.m. \u2013 1:15 p.m. on Friday, September 10.<\/p>\n<p>The Homegrown School Lunch Week, an element of the Jane Lawton Farm to School Program, was created during the 2008 Session of the Maryland General Assembly when SB 158 Farm-to-School Program &#8211; Activities and Promotional Events, sponsored by Senator Jamie Raskin and Del.
