Photo credit: Edwin Remsberg<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong><em>Cecil County Visit is Secretary\u2019s 5<sup>th<\/sup> Stop on Maryland\u2019s Best Ice Cream Trail<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ANNAPOLIS, MD (July 27, 2015) <\/strong>\u2013 In celebration of Maryland\u2019s ice cream trail, Maryland Agriculture Secretary Joe Bartenfelder will visit Kilby Cream on Tuesday to encourage all Marylanders to enjoy fresh, delicious ice cream. The Maryland\u2019s Best Ice Cream Trail includes eight farms that stretch over more than 290 miles from Ocean City in the east to Washington County in the west. Secretary Bartenfelder has visited four of the creameries so far this summer. Under the program, people pick up an Ice Cream Trail Passport at any of the eight creameries (or online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marylandsbest.net\">www.marylandsbest.net<\/a>), answer a question and have it \u201cstamped\u201d at each creamery. Those who submit a completed passport to MDA before September 23 will be entered in a drawing for the grand prize, which includes a $50 gift certificate to the winner\u2019s favorite creamery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who\/What:<\/strong> Secretary Bartenfelder will visit Kilby Cream, one of the eight farm-based creameries on \u201cMaryland\u2019s Best Ice Cream Trail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why<\/strong>: To highlight the important contributions of Maryland\u2019s 455 dairy farms which accounted for $244 million in sales in 2014; and to increase the public\u2019s general understanding of dairy farming by encouraging them to visit a farm and see what dairy farming is really like, all while enjoying delicious, locally produced ice cream.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where\/Where: Tuesday, July 28<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>1:15 to 1:45 p.m. at Kilby Cream<\/strong>, 129 Strohmaier Lane, Rising Sun, MD 21911<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note to Reporters:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Several dairies in the state produce ice cream on farm but do not sell it directly to consumers on the farm.
