{"id":14117,"date":"2015-04-23T15:04:38","date_gmt":"2015-04-23T19:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mda\/?p=14117"},"modified":"2015-04-24T15:06:05","modified_gmt":"2015-04-24T19:06:05","slug":"maryland-farmers-reminded-to-certify-conservation-compliance-with-county-farm-service-agency-to-maintain-crop-insurance-subsidy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mda\/press-release\/2015\/04\/23\/maryland-farmers-reminded-to-certify-conservation-compliance-with-county-farm-service-agency-to-maintain-crop-insurance-subsidy\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryland Farmers Reminded to Certify Conservation Compliance    with County Farm Service Agency to Maintain Crop Insurance Subsidy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><strong>ANNAPOLIS, MD<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) Secretary Joe Bartenfelder reminds farmers that to continue to be eligible for premium subsidy on any federally reinsured <span class=\"il\">crop<\/span> <span class=\"il\">insurance<\/span> policy, including specialty <span class=\"il\">crops<\/span>, livestock, and pasture, they must file form AD-1026 certifying conservation compliance with their local USDA Service Center\u2019s Farm Service Agency (FSA) by <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">June 1<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Most farmers already have a certification form on file, since it is required for participation in most USDA programs such as marketing assistance loans, farm storage facility loans and disaster assistance. However farmers, such as specialty <span class=\"il\">crop<\/span> growers who receive federal <span class=\"il\">crop<\/span> <span class=\"il\">insurance<\/span> premium support, but may not participate in other USDA programs, also must now file a certification form to maintain their <span class=\"il\">crop<\/span> <span class=\"il\">insurance<\/span> premium support.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u201cFarmers should be in contact with their local Farm Service Agency office to make sure they have met this eligibility requirement for reduced premiums on their <span class=\"il\">crop<\/span> <span class=\"il\">insurance<\/span>\u201d said Secretary Bartenfelder, \u201dWe want all eligible producers to be able to maintain their ability to protect their operations with affordable <span class=\"il\">insurance<\/span>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Producers should visit their local\u00a0<a title=\"Opens in new window.\" href=\"http:\/\/offices.usda.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">USDA service center<\/a>\u00a0and talk with their <span class=\"il\">crop<\/span> <span class=\"il\">insurance<\/span> agent before the <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">June 1<\/span><\/span> deadline to ask questions, get additional information or learn more about conservation compliance procedures. Producers that file their form by the deadline will be eligible for federal <span class=\"il\">crop<\/span> <span class=\"il\">insurance<\/span> premium support during the 2016 reinsurance year, which begins <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">July 1, 2015<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The Highly Erodible Land Conservation and Wetland Conservation Certification form is available at local <a title=\"Opens in new window.\" href=\"http:\/\/offices.sc.egov.usda.gov\/locator\/app\" target=\"_blank\">USDA service center<\/a>\u00a0or online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fsa.usda.gov\/AD1026form\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.fsa.usda.gov\/AD1026form<\/a>. When a farmer completes this form, USDA Farm Service Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Service staff will outline any additional actions that may be required for compliance with highly erodible land and wetland provisions.
