{"id":1340,"date":"2010-03-22T18:13:20","date_gmt":"2010-03-22T18:13:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mda\/?p=1340"},"modified":"2012-09-26T18:15:36","modified_gmt":"2012-09-26T18:15:36","slug":"agriculture-secretary-to-read-to-third-graders-at-mutual-elementary-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/mda\/press-release\/2010\/03\/22\/agriculture-secretary-to-read-to-third-graders-at-mutual-elementary-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Agriculture Secretary to Read to Third Graders at Mutual Elementary School"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong><em>Secretary Hance to Promote &#8216;A Read Across Maryland&#8217; Reading Campaign<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div><!-- Article Text --><\/div>\n<p>ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 22, 2010) \u2013 Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary and Calvert County native Buddy Hance will read to third graders at Mutual Elementary School as part of \u201cRead Across Maryland\u201d month, and will encourage participation in the \u201c30 for 30\u201d reading campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The celebration and reading will take place Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. at Mutual Elementary School in Port Republic (Calvert County).<\/p>\n<p>On March 1, 2010, Governor O\u2019Malley kicked off the second annual \u201cRead Across Maryland\u201d initiative, alongside Maryland State Education Association (MSEA) President Clara Floyd.\u00a0 This year, the program has expanded to include a partnership with the Maryland Library Association, with a theme of \u201c30 for 30,\u201d a challenge to parents, teachers, and students to read 30 minutes every day for 30 days for the month of March.\u00a0\u00a0 The Governor, Lt.
