2018 Maryland High School Envirothon Scheduled for June 14-15
Winning Teams from 14 Maryland Counties to Compete in Garrett County
ANNAPOLIS, MD – While most high school students are enjoying a well-deserved summer break, more than 100 of Maryland’s brightest teenagers will be competing at the 28th annual Maryland Envirothon on June 14 and 15, in Garrett County. The Envirothon is a rigorous two-day, outdoor natural resources competition for teens who are passionate about the outdoors and the environment.
Student teams will compete in five areas of environmental studies: soil/land use, aquatics ecology, forestry, wildlife, and this year’s environmental issue: Western Rangeland and Pasture Management. The winning team will represent Maryland at the North American Envirothon which will be held at Idaho State University in July.
What: The 28th Annual Maryland Envirothon competition for high school students.
Where: Western Maryland 4-H Education Center in Garrett County (Located off of Maryland Route 495 near the town of Swanton)
When:
June 14 – 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Student Field Training
June 15 – 8 a.m. to Noon – Competition
June 15 – 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Awards Presentation
Who: Five-member teams that won their local competition are competing for the state title in the following counties:
- Allegany County
- Anne Arundel County
- Calvert County
- Carroll County
- Cecil County
- Charles County
- Eastern Shore
- Frederick County
- Garrett County
- Harford County
- Howard County
- Montgomery County
- Prince George’s County
- St Mary’s County
