Training Dates Scheduled for 2017 Maryland Farmers Market Nutrition Programs

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Maryland Department of Agriculture has announced 2017 training dates for the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), and Fruit & Vegetable Check (FVC) programs.

Any farmers or markets new to the Nutrition Programs must attend a training session in person to participate in the program this market season. Anyone who took training prior to 2015 is also required to attend a session or join a conference call to participate in these programs. Once completed, the training is valid for three years.

The two hour training sessions are free, but registration is required. All participants must RSVP here.

2017 Training Schedule

  • Feb. 13, 6:30 p.m. – Washington County: Washington County Agricultural Education Center Front Building, Library (watch for signs) 7303 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro MD 21713
  • Feb. 16, 10 a.m. – Montgomery County: Department of Economic Development, Agricultural Services Division, 18410 Muncaster Road, Derwood, MD. This is a dual MD/DC training.
  • Feb. 17, 10 a.m. – Cecil County: Cecil County Economic Development Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd #2700, Elkton, MD 21921.
  • Feb. 28, 10 a.m. – Howard County: Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship: 9250 Bendix Rd, Columbia, MD 21045.
  • March 3, 10 a.m. – Frederick County: 118 N. Market St Frederick, MD 21701.
  • March 6, 1 p.m. – St. Mary’s County: Charlotte Hall Library, 37600 New Market Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20659
  • March 8, 10 a.m. – Washington, D.C.:  The Rise Demonstration Center, 2730 Martin Luther King Jr., Ave, SE, Washington, DC  20032, 1st floor Conference Room. Parking is free. Entrance is through a gated security checkpoint, parking lot will be on the right. This is a dual MD/DC training.
  • March 14, 3 p.m. – Anne Arundel County: Training will be incorporated into the Annual Farmers Market Conference at the Maryland Department of Agriculture. 50 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401. This is a dual MD/DC training.
    • Lunch will be included in the conference and there will be a $30 cost per person for full day conference attendance. Registration for this event is now open and available on the Maryland Department of Agriculture’s website.
  • March 20, 10 a.m. & 2 p.m. – Prince George’s County: Soil Conservation Office, 5301 Marlboro Race Track Road, Suite 100, Upper Marlboro, MD. Two sessions offered. This is a dual MD/DC training.
  • March 21, 6 p.m. – Allegany County: Allegany County Fairground, Expo Building 11490 Moss Avenue, Cumberland, MD 21502.
  • March 21, 10 a.m. – Washington County: Washington County Agricultural Education Center (Rooms 1 and 2, watch for signs) 7303 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro MD 21713.
  • March 22, 10 a.m. – Wicomico County: 31901 Tri County Way, Room #025, Salisbury, MD.
  • March 22, 2 p.m.- Caroline County: USDA Denton Office, 9194 Legion Rd, Denton, MD.
  • March 23, 6 p.m. – Garrett County: Garrett Co. UMD Extension Office, 1916 Maryland Hwy, Suite A, Mt Lake Park, MD  21550.
  • March 29, 10 a.m. – Baltimore County: Baltimore County Agricultural Center, 1114 Shawan Road, Cockeysville, MD.
  • March 30, 10 a.m. & 2 p.m. – Session Two: Conference Calls with Webinar.
  • April 10, 10 a.m. & 2 p.m. – Conference Calls with Webinar.
