Maryland Department of Agriculture Proposes New Pet Food Regulations

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Maryland Department of Agriculture is proposing new regulations to establish the requirements for registering pet food and specialty food prior to distribution in Maryland.

This regulation establishes labeling requirements, dietary requirements, nutrient profiles, and other requirements that are necessary for consumers to make educated decisions when purchasing pet food or specialty pet food. The regulations can be found online.

A public hearing is scheduled for February 13, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Maryland Department of Agriculture headquarters, Room 110, 50 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, Maryland 21401.
