New Episode of Maryland Public TV series Maryland Farm & Harvest Airs Tuesday

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Maryland Public Television’s (MPT) popular original series Maryland Farm & Harvest is now in its third season with new half-hour episodes airing Tuesdays at 7 p.m. The series puts a human face on Maryland agriculture by telling stories of the people, skills and technology required to sustain and grow the state’s number one industry.

Joanne Clendining, who earned an Emmy® from the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter (NCCBC) of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for her work as Maryland Farm & Harvest host, returns for season three.  Joining Joanne is Contributing Editor Al Spoler, who serves up the Local Buy segment during each episode.

Featured on the program on Tuesday, December 8 at 7 p.m. are:

  • South Mountain Creamery in Middletown. Al Spoler, host of The Local Buy segment, rides along with the milkman to deliver farm-fresh dairy products to customers in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C.
  • Carla King’s Farm in Davidsonville. When it comes to working her 100 acres of land, sheep farmer Carla King relies on an unusual staff of helpers – sheepdogs. Host Joanne Clendining learns how Carla has been raising and training border collies as sheepdogs for the past 30 years to become vital members of her team.
  • Twin Oak Farms in Stockton. Poultry growers Rick and Valerie Blevins plant berry bushes around their chicken houses that not only provide environmental benefits but enables them to operate a profitable vegetable stand in their own front yard offering homemade jams, sauces, and salsas.

The series airs on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. on MPT-HD and is rebroadcast on Thursdays at 11:30 p.m. and Sundays at 6 a.m. Each show also airs on MPT2, on Fridays at 6:30 p.m.  For more information visit www.mpt.org/farm.
