MEDIA ADVISORY: MDA Secretary to Read to Fullerton Elementary Students, Celebrate Ag Day

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary and Baltimore County native Joe Bartenfelder will read to kindergarten and fourth grade students at Fullerton Elementary School as part of “Read Across Maryland” month (March) and National and Maryland Agriculture Week (March 15-21). The reading will take place on National Ag Day, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Fullerton Elementary School in Baltimore County.

The Hogan-Rutherford Administration encouraging educators, parents and children to read 30 minutes a day for 30 days as part of a “Read 30 for 30” theme.

This year also marks the 5th annual Ag Literacy Campaign, launched by the Maryland Agriculture Education Foundation, to visit elementary school classrooms across the state, read a selected book and talk to students about the importance of agriculture in their lives.
