Meeting Notice: Governor’s Intergovernmental Commission for Agriculture to Meet Oct. 23

The Agricultural Signage Program is on the agenda for the next GICA meeting.

ANNAPOLIS, MD –  The Governor’s Intergovernmental Commission for Agriculture (GICA) will meet on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m to noon in the downstairs conference room at the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA), 50 Harry S. Truman Pkwy., Annapolis.  The agenda will include presentations from the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development Office of Tourism, and from the State Highway Administration and MDA on the Agricultural Signage program.  GICA will also discuss issues and recommendations regarding agritourism and county zoning requirements. In addition, the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation will also present on the Federal H2A agricultural worker program and zoning issues at the county level.

GICA was established in 2006 to “promote the economic profitability of agriculture in the State by ensuring that all appropriate State agencies work in a cooperative, coordinated manner with local government and industry groups in planning, implementing, overseeing and evaluating intergovernmental initiatives related to agricultural affairs of the State.”  For more information, contact Joanna Kille, Director of Government Relations, at (410) 841-5886.
