Young Farmers Advisory Board to Tour Farms in Baltimore, Harford Counties
ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Young Farmers Advisory Board – which makes recommendations to the Secretary of Agriculture to help young and beginning farmers become and remain profitable — will tour three farms in Baltimore and Harford counties on June 18. The group is scheduled to leave from the Maryland Department of Agriculture building in Annapolis at 9:45 a.m. and return about 4:15 p.m.
The group will visit Richardson Farm in White Marsh – a fifth generation family farm; Broom’s Bloom Dairy in Bel Air – a ninth generation family farm; and Prigel Family Creamery in Glen Arm – a fifth generation family farm. The Young Farmers Advisory Board promotes agriculture as a positive contributor to Maryland’s economy, environment, and scenic landscape. Its recommendations to the Secretary are related to economic development, and legislative and policy issues that impact agricultural profitability throughout the state. Members are appointed by the Governor and eligible to serve two, three-year terms. The board meets quarterly in Annapolis. For more information about the Board.
