Meeting Notices: Ag Certainty, State Soil Conservation and Animal Waste Technology Fund to meet in September
ANNAPOLIS, MD (August 22, 2013) – The Maryland Agricultural Certainty Oversight Committee will meet Monday, Sept. 9, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Maryland Department of Agriculture, 50 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis. The committee is working to develop regulations needed to implement the Agricultural Certainty Program, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by the Governor earlier this year.
The State Soil Conservation Committee will meet Thursday, Sept. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Maryland Department of Agriculture, 50 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis. The meeting is open to the public and will focus on soil conservation and water quality program implementation and policy development. Established in 1938, the State Soil Conservation Committee coordinates the activities of Maryland’s 24 soil conservation districts, while advising the Secretary of Agriculture on matters relating to soil and water conservation. The Advisory Committee for the Animal Waste Technology Fund will meet Monday, Sept. 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Maryland Department of Agriculture, 50 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis. The committee’s work focuses on determining funding mechanisms as well as developing Requests for Proposals for funding that will support pilots for alternative technologies that use and manage animal waste, including manure-to-energy technologies.
