Maryland Horse Industry Board Seeks Nominations for Vacancies
ANNAPOLIS — The Maryland Horse Industry Board (MHIB), a program within the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA), is seeking nominations to fill two positions on its 12-member board. The MHIB serves as a commodities board that helps grow and promote the Maryland horse industry. It is also a regulatory body that provides oversight and advocacy to help protect horses and consumers at the state’s commercial riding, lesson, boarding, rental and rescue stables.
The open positions represent licensed veterinary medicine (equine) and licensed stable operators. To be considered, applicants must have experience in the field they are interested in representing. Appointments to four-year terms are made by Governor Martin O’Malley. The Board meets monthly. To be considered, send a resume and cover letter by August 15 to MHIB Executive Director Ross Peddicord at ross.peddicord@maryland.gov or at MDA/MHIB, 50 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
