Agriculture Secretary to Read to Cape St. Claire Elementary School Students

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary and farmer Buddy Hance will read to first grade students in Anne Arundel County as part of “Read Across Maryland” month (March) and Ag Literacy Week (March 18-22). The reading will take place Monday, March 18, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Cape St. Claire Elementary School in Annapolis.

For the fifth year in a row, the O’Malley-Brown Administration is partnering with MSEA, the Maryland Library Association and the Maryland Association of School Librarians to encourage educators, parents and children to read 30 minutes a day for 30 days as part of a “Read 30 for 30” theme.

This year also marks the 3rd annual Ag Literacy Campaign, launched by the Maryland Agriculture Education Foundation, to visit elementary school classrooms across the state, read a selected book and talk to students about the importance of agriculture in their lives.
