Governor’s Commission Seeks Input on Agricultural Education
ANNAPOLIS, MD (Sept. 23, 2011) – The Governor’s Intergovernmental Commission for Agriculture (GICA), a public-private coordinating body created by Executive Order and staffed by the Maryland Department of Agriculture, is conducting a statewide survey, seeking information on the current state of agricultural education in Maryland. An online survey will be available to the general public through October 14.
“GICA is interested in gathering information from all segments of the community about what kinds of agricultural education programs currently exist in Maryland, what works in those programs and what is lacking,” said Agriculture Secretary Buddy Hance, who also chairs the Commission. “We will use the information we gather to help develop recommendations that will strengthen the public’s understanding of agriculture.”
The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and will be available online until 5 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011. Take the survey here
GICA is a public-private coordinating body created by an Executive Order that works to promote the economic profitability of agriculture in the state by planning, implementing, overseeing and evaluating intergovernmental initiatives related to agriculture. Its members are appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of the Secretary of Agriculture.
