Strategic Planning Event to Map Out 15-Year Plan for Ag Industry
ANNAPOLIS, MD (Feb. 17, 2010) – Approximately 200 representatives of the agricultural industry and other stakeholders will attend the Governor’s 2010 Agricultural Forum to lay out a 15-year plan for the future of agriculture. The strategic planning event, hosted by the Maryland Agricultural Community, will take place on Friday, Feb. 19 at the Doubletree Hotel in Annapolis. The participants will identify the most important issues to address for the short term, identify the most important issues for the long-term (2025), and develop recommendations that will form a 15-year action strategy.
Lt. Governor Anthony Brown will deliver the luncheon remarks. Additional speakers include: Maryland Agriculture Secretary Buddy Hance; Ed Kee, secretary, Delaware Department of Agriculture, and noted expert and author on the history of agriculture in the region; and Tom Hartsock, chair, Maryland Agricultural Commission.
Under the O’Malley-Brown Administration, 102 of the 109 recommendations from the Statewide Plan for Agriculture and Resource Management are accomplished or underway.
