Agribusinesses Invited to Participate in FOODEX Japan 2010

Opportunity to Present Food Service Products to Japan Importers

ANNAPOLIS, MD (Oct. 14, 2009) – The Maryland Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA), is recruiting agribusinesses to participate in FoodEx Japan 2010 in Tokyo on March 2-5, 2010.

Agribusinesses selling the following products have the most potential to succeed in the Japanese market: ready-to-eat meals, functional foods, seafood, all-natural or organic products, high-quality natural foods, foods without GMO ingredients, frozen fruits and vegetables, snack foods, fruit juices, desserts and retail food products.  To participate within the USA Pavilion, products must be made in the United States and must be of at least 50 percent U.S. origin excluding water

Japan continues to be a strong market for U.S. food products and many Maryland processors have indicated that Japan is a target market for them.  Japan is the third largest market for U.S. agricultural exports after Canada and Mexico.  Japanese consumers and buyers are very interested in the quality, convenience and healthfulness of their foods.

FOODEX Japan is Asia’s largest food and beverage trade show and attracts 2,400 exhibitors from 60 countries.  It is expected that 86,000 trade professionals will visit FOODEX Japan over the four-day show.

Limited space is available. Registration deadline is November 13, 2009. Participation fee is $1,200 for one booth (9 sqm) and $1,500 for one corner booth (9 sqm).  SUSTA will pay up to $1,000 in shipping costs per company from a designated U.S. consolidation point to the trade show site.  Contact Theresa Brophy for more information at 410-841-5781 or [email protected].
