UPDATE (Jan. 21): The session scheduled for Jan. 21 in Frederick has been cancelled due to weather. It has been rescheduled for Jan. 29. Same time and location

ANNAPOLIS, MD  – All licensed horse stables in the state will be receiving invitations this week from the Maryland Horse Industry Board (MHIB), a program within the Maryland Department of Agriculture, to attend an Information Session about how to become an Equine Experience Center – a place where people who have little or no experience with horses can learn about these magnificent animals and all aspects of horsemanship.

“Every aspect of the horse industry is found in Maryland which gives us a great opportunity to share with anyone who is interested the chance to learn more about these wonderful creatures,” said MHIB Executive Director Ross Peddicord. “It is our intent to create Equine Experience Centers which are facilities or organizations that are certified to educate the public about the different aspects of the horse industry in Maryland and have a passion to share this interest in a safe, friendly and fun environment.”

In addition to promoting the horse industry by enticing more people to interact and spend time with horses, the Experience Centers will also provide more opportunities for stables to increase their revenue and profile. The program is entirely free and voluntary for organizations that become a part of it, but they will be required to meet certain standards.

Information sessions are open to all Maryland licensed stables. There is no charge to attend but registration is required. Lunch will be included. All sessions are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
