MDA Announces New Chief Information Officer Carrie DeBoy
ANNAPOLIS, MD (Sept. 14 2011) – Maryland Agriculture Secretary Buddy Hance today announced the selection of Carrie DeBoy as MDA’s Chief Information Officer (CIO). DeBoy worked with the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) for the last 16 years, most recently as the Assistant Information Technology (IT) Director with the within the agency’s IT Office of Operations and Support.
“I am very pleased to welcome Carrie DeBoy to the MDA family,” said Secretary Hance. “MDA IT’s staff is an extremely responsive and creative team, and, as an agency, we have come a long way in the last few years. We look forward to working with Carrie to develop even more internal efficiencies and to increase the web-based services we can provide to our customers and consumers in the future.”
While at MDTA, DeBoy worked on high profile network infrastructure projects that required the coordination of multiple state agencies and private contractors, most notably the high speed toll road on the Inter-County Connector (ICC) and the License Plate Reader System at the Fort McHenry tunnel. At MDA, DeBoy will manage the Information Technology Services office which is responsible for the installation, maintenance and upgrade of all computer hardware, software and networking.
“My family and I have always been loyal customers of our local farmers’ markets and locally grown foods” said DeBoy. “It is a privilege to serve as CIO for the MDA and I look forward to helping an industry that has become a big part of my life.”
Before joining state government, she worked in IT at Aerotek in Hanover.
DeBoy holds a Master of Science in Information Technology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). She also holds a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. She lives in Pasadena.
DeBoy replaces Mike Goff who retired earlier from MDA this year.
