MEDIA ADVISORY: MDA to Host Screening of Documentary “The Maryland Harvest” to Air on MPT

ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 28, 2012) –  The Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) will host a screening of  the upcoming documentary The Maryland Harvest on Tuesday, April 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with some of those featured in the piece.

Produced by Houpla, a Baltimore company, and premiering on Maryland Public Television (MPT) next month, the documentary follows the growing season and chronicles the partnerships being formed between farmers and chefs to provide consumers with fresh, local food throughout the year. Hosted by radio personality Al Spoler, the documentary features some of the area’s top chefs including Spike Gjerde of Woodberry Kitchen, David McCallum of the Tilghman Island Inn, Rob Plant of Blue Wind Gourmet, and Cindy Wolf of Charleston.

The Maryland Harvest is scheduled to air on MPT on April 17 at 9 p.m., during Chesapeake Bay Week. The screening at MDA will show about 20 minutes of the hour-long broadcast. Media representatives are invited to attend.
