Agriculture Department Names Anne Arundel Resident Employee of the Quarter

The Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) today named Bettie McCaffrey, an Anne Arundel County resident, the Employee of the Quarter. Secretary Buddy Hance presented McCaffrey with a plaque of appreciation during a department-wide staff meeting.

“MDA could not meet its mission to serve agriculture and the citizens of Maryland without its talented and dedicated employees,” said Secretary Hance. “Bettie has been a tireless and devoted employee of MDA for many years, and I am very pleased to recognize her many contributions today.”

McCaffrey is an Executive Associate to the Assistant Secretary for the Office of Marketing, Animal Industries and Consumer Services. She has worked for the State of Maryland for more than 40 years and was recognized for her positive attitude, organizational skills, strong work ethic and problem-solving skills, especially in her work coordinating many of the department’s meetings and events, including certain aspects of the agency’s presence at the 11-day Maryland State Fair.

The Maryland Department of Agriculture was established as a principal department of State government in 1973 and is comprised of the four major units of Office of the Secretary; Marketing, Animal Industries and Consumers Services; Plant Industries and Pest Management; and Resource Conservation. MDA provides services that preserve and protect agricultural resources and the environment, promote profitable agriculture and consumer confidence, and enhance the quality of life for all Marylanders.
