Agriculture Department Honors Employee of the Year

Annapolis Resident Recognized for Work in Resource Conservation

ANNAPOLIS, MD (Jan. 19, 2018) – The Maryland Department of Agriculture honored Employee of the Year Alisha Mulkey at a recent staff meeting. Mulkey works in the Office of Resource Conservation as the Watershed Implementation Planning Coordinator. Her work is a major component of the department’s efforts to protect Maryland’s natural resources and waterways, specifically the Chesapeake Bay.

“Alisha continues to be a true asset to the department and her leadership in the Watershed Implementation Program has been invaluable,” said Secretary Joe Bartenfelder. “I am very happy to honor her continued hard work with this recognition.”

Mulkey is known for her high standard of performance, professionalism and dedication to serving the citizens of the State of Maryland. She brings critical thinking and reasoning skills to effectively perform the duties and responsibilities associated with her position. She is creative in developing solutions to address challenging issues and is articulate in presenting complex information to a variety of audiences.

Beyond her duties at the department, Mulkey is dedicated to agricultural conservation and Chesapeake Bay restoration. She has been a member of the American Society of Agronomy, Soil Science Society of America, Crop Science Society of America and the Old-Line Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society. She also holds a Certified Nutrient Management Consultant Certificate in Maryland.

Mulkey represents the department on numerous workgroups and committees, including the Chesapeake Bay Program Agriculture Workgroup, Agricultural Modeling Sub-Committee, Delmarva Land and Litter Challenge, and various state-level stakeholder groups.
