Prince George’s Soil Conservation District Annual Report Available
The Prince George’s Soil Conservation District has published its 2016 annual report outlining its agricultural and urban conservation programs to protect natural resources and the Chesapeake Bay as well as its educational outreach to students and land preservation accomplishments. Maryland Grain Producers Scholarships Available
The Maryland Grain Producers Utilization Board will award up to four, $2,500 scholarships to deserving Maryland students interested in pursuing an ag-related career. Funded with Maryland grain check-off funds, scholarships will be awarded to Maryland residents who are enrolled in or accepted by a four-year institution and working toward a BS degree, or enrolled in or accepted by a two-year institution with an agricultural program. Selections will be based on agricultural background, family farm involvement, financial need, grade point average, agriculture related studies, career goals, and extra-curricular activities. Applicants or the applicant’s immediate family must be involved in the production of grain. Applications are due by June 1, 2017. Maryland Commodity Classic Now Accepting Sponsors
Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 19th annual Maryland Commodity Classic, which will take place Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Queen Anne’s County 4-H Park in Centreville, Maryland. The highly regarded event features research presentations, exhibits, informational displays and a famed Crab Feast, Pork and Chicken BBQ. It is hosted by the Maryland Grain Producers Utilization Board, the Maryland Grain Producers Association, the Maryland Soybean Board, and the Mid-Atlantic Soybean Association.
