State, Local Officials to Plant Flowers with Students for National Ag Day

Event at Frederick Douglass High School scheduled for March 21

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Lieutenant Governor Boyd K. Rutherford and Agriculture Secretary Joe Bartenfelder will celebrate National Agriculture Day by planting flowers with students at Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore City. The goal of the event is to plant enough flowers for each student in the school to bring one home for Mother’s Day.

Lt. Governor Rutherford and Secretary Bartenfelder will return to the school after attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony for two new hoop houses held there last fall. Professional expertise and materials for that project were donated by the Maryland Nursery Landscape and Greenhouse Association, Maryland Agriculture Education Foundation and other community partners.
