    2022 MCSS School Safety Convention-July 12 & 13

Do you have unique School Safety expertise to share?

The Maryland Center for School Safety (MCSS) is seeking members of the school safety community as speakers for our 2022 School Safety Conference, which will take place July 12 and July 13, 2022 at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum Heights, Maryland.

This summer’s conference theme is School Safety: A Collaborative Approach. We are seeking national and local speakers who can present content, experiences, and best practices to benefit our partners across the state to help MCSS fulfill its mission, to promote and enhance safer school communities.

Jim Hott, School Safety Emergency Preparedness Specialist for MCSS and conference coordinator, is seeking local professionals such as school administrators, school resource officers, school security, and mental health professionals. Of special interest are programs or initiatives making a positive impact in the lives of students.

“We encourage professionals who are mentoring students and helping them in school and life as well; to share their successes with our partners in the state so they can institute the initiatives in their districts,” said Hott. The presenters should understand our attendees’ diverse roles and the unique challenges they face on a daily basis. Conversations and stories of real-life successes, challenges, and practical school security insights are of special interest to us this year. Mr. Hott says he hopes our speakers, “provide real-life, actionable experience and practical takeaways our attendees can develop in other areas of the state.”

If you would like to highlight the successes you have had and work in the school safety profession, please complete the Call for Speakers Application. The deadline to submit your application is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2022.

If you have any questions, please contact Jim Hott, Committee Chair, at james.hott1@maryland.gov. If you are not interested in speaking but would like to suggest topics or speakers, we also welcome your input.
