2021 Conference: Jenn Lynn Presents “Positive Interactions with Autistic, I/DD Students”
Personal and professional experience in the field of disability and law enforcement has afforded Jenn Lynn a very well-rounded perspective on how to encourage successful interactions that meet the needs of everyone. School Resource & Security officers encounter disabled and vulnerable population daily and some interactions can be difficult. Jenn Lynn will walk you through the basics of how to find the positives in very challenging situations and how to form a trusting bond with the children that will grow your relationships.
Jenn Lynn is passionate about helping all families dealing with Autism. An expert in Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety Disorder, Mood Disorder NOS, and Executive Function Disorder, Lynn serves on the Montgomery County Policing Advisory Commission, formerly on the Commission for People with Disabilities, the Lt. Governor Rutherford’s Commission to Study Behavioral and Mental Health for Maryland and collaborates with I/DD professionals and doctors. Ms. Lynn strives to educate, enrich, and empower parents and community members by sharing what she’s learned from certifications in Mental Health First Aid, Trauma Exposed Workplaces, completion of Montgomery County Police Citizen’s Academy, four years training Law Enforcement, two years as an ABA technician, experience with PBIS training, first-hand behavior training at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, as well as her work in special education (public/private schools). The former TV news producer speaks and writes uplifting and encouraging stories of living on the spectrum at theworldaccordingtojake.com, is a published author, adoption advocate, is a Director on the Mattie J.T. Stepanek Guild for Sainthood and performs professionally as a flute/piccolo player.
