Holiday Treat for the Homeless

Towson, MD – Correctional officers from the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center will feed homeless Baltimoreans downtown in front of the facility from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015.

Employees traditionally direct their charity efforts to area schools but decided this year to add aiding the homeless, many of whom live under the Jones Falls Expressway across the street from the booking facility.

“It’s just a way to shed some positive light,” said Carolyn Scruggs, former warden of the facility and acting assistant commissioner for Pre-trial and Detention Services. “It’s just giving back to the community during the holidays.”

Employees donated the food, which will include packaged desserts.
