These recognitions are given annually through the trust\u2019s Janice Hollmann Grants and the Aileen Hughes Award.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Janice Hollmann Grants<\/strong> are open to local land trusts for conservation, outreach and stewardship programs, or to honor outstanding conservation and environmental efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Funded by the Maryland Environmental Trust and the State Highway Administration, the grants are given in celebration of the life of Janice Hollmann who cofounded the Severn River Land Trust and the Arundel Conservation Trust, and served on the Severn River Commission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Aileen Hughes Award <\/strong>will be given to the individual who represents a Maryland land trust and demonstrated outstanding leadership, partnership and innovation in a conservation project.<\/p>\n<p>This award honors the late Aileen Hughes, a leader in Maryland\u2019s conservation movement and a supporter of women\u2019s and civil rights. She served as president of the American Chestnut Land Trust for many years.<\/p>\n<p>Application and nomination forms are <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr2.maryland.gov\/met\/Pages\/grant_programs.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">available online<\/a> and are <strong>due by March 14, 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Maryland Environmental Trust, a unit of the Department of Natural Resources, \u00a0is\u00a0governed by a citizen board of trustees.
