Col. Ken Ziegler Jr., NRP\u2019s deputy superintendent said.\u00a0&#8220;Make your home safer. Please clean out your medicine cabinet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day addresses a vital public safety and health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to theft and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are at alarming rates, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.<\/p>\n<p>Studies show that many abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.
