{"id":9088,"date":"2015-09-16T15:16:39","date_gmt":"2015-09-16T19:16:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=9088"},"modified":"2017-04-14T13:51:21","modified_gmt":"2017-04-14T17:51:21","slug":"department-of-natural-resources-outlines-fee-reductions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2015\/09\/16\/department-of-natural-resources-outlines-fee-reductions\/","title":{"rendered":"Department of Natural Resources Outlines Fee Reductions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><em>Cuts Will Aid Maryland Small Businesses, Property Owners and Seniors<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2840\/11871969095_5d3a3de00e_b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"326\" \/><br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following Maryland Governor Larry Hogan\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/governor.maryland.gov\/2015\/09\/15\/governor-hogan-eliminates-or-cuts-fees-statewide-saving-marylanders-51-million-over-five-years\/\" target=\"_blank\">announcement<\/a> that the state is eliminating or reducing $51 million in state-issued fees, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) outlined its proposals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr2.maryland.gov\/Publiclands\/Pages\/parkpass.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Golden Age Pass<\/strong><\/a> holders will no longer have to pay a fee to use state park boat launches or ramps. The $10 pass entitles Maryland adults, ages 62 and older, to a lifetime of free day-use entry into all state parks, as well as half price camping\u00a0Sunday\u00a0through\u00a0Thursday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr2.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/fpo_search.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Forest Product Operator<\/strong><\/a><strong> Licensing Fee<\/strong>, which requires renewal every year, will be reduced from $30 to $20 a year. These licenses are required to engage in a forest products business, including sawmills, firewood dealers, and pulpwood and logging contractors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Certified <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr2.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/programapps\/newtreeexpert.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Tree Expert<\/strong><\/a><strong> Licensing Fee<\/strong>, which requires renewal every two years, will be reduced from $25 to $20. These licenses are required to advertise or practice tree care services in Maryland.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr2.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/programapps\/fcmp.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Forest Conservation &amp; Management Program Property<\/strong><\/a><strong> Fee<\/strong>, which requires participating landowners to pay a $50 fee plus an additional .22 percent enrollment fee on assessed woodland value, will be simplified to a flat $50 fee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr2.maryland.gov\/wildlife\/Pages\/Licenses\/gamehusbandry.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Game Husbandry<\/strong><\/a><strong> Licensing Fee<\/strong>, which requires renewal every year, will be reduced from $10 to $5 a year.
