Through the program, DNR and partners selected four research projects that they will use to rigorously evaluate the effectiveness of water quality and habitat enhancements practices. Results will help ensure\u00a0that\u00a0practices\u00a0with the greatest likelihood for success are implemented in the future.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe health of Chesapeake Bay starts with the health of tributaries in our backyards,\u201d said Mark Belton, Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources. \u201cThe Restoration Research Grant Program will provide us with more in-depth scientific data and real, measurable results to help confirm that stream restoration efforts are reducing the amount of nitrogen and phosphorus that enter our waters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Restoration Research Grant Program \u2500 an $825,000 opportunity made possible through a collaboration of federal and local partners \u2500 will answer key questions about the specific benefits of restoration techniques.\u00a0The program aims to increase confidence in proposed project outcomes, clarify site conditions most appropriate for certain techniques, and provide information useful to regulatory agencies.\u00a0<strong>Learn more about the program and\u00a0grantees with the Chesapeake Bay Trust&#8217;s news release,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbtrust.org\/atf\/cf\/{EB2A714E-8219-45E8-8C3D-50EBE1847CB8}\/Restoration%20Research%20Grant%20Program%20Announced%202015--FINAL.docx\">here<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbtrust.org\/atf\/cf\/{EB2A714E-8219-45E8-8C3D-50EBE1847CB8}\/Restoration%20Research%20Grant%20Program%20Announced%202015--FINAL.docx\">.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dnr.maryland.gov\/ccs\/funding\/trust_fund.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Trust Fund<\/a> helps federal state and local partners identify the most targeted and cost-effective stream restoration approaches to meet Chesapeake Bay water quality goals.
