{"id":8289,"date":"2015-03-25T12:00:23","date_gmt":"2015-03-25T16:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=8289"},"modified":"2017-04-14T16:29:27","modified_gmt":"2017-04-14T20:29:27","slug":"maryland-park-service-reopens-xx-appalachian-trail-shelters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2015\/03\/25\/maryland-park-service-reopens-xx-appalachian-trail-shelters\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryland Park Service Reopens All Appalachian Trail Shelters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>***3\/25\u00a0Update:\u00a0<\/strong><b>All <strong>Appalachian Trail Shelters Now Open***<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Original release, 3\/19: Maryland Park Service Reopens Five Appalachian Trail Shelters &#8212;\u00a0Crews from the Maryland Park Service and Maryland Forest Service today felled a number of trees to allow the reopening of five\u00a0overnight shelters and campgrounds along the Appalachian Trail in time for weekend use.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Pine Knob, Annapolis Rock, Cramptons Gap,\u00a0Rocky Run and Ensign Cowall areas were evaluated by state officials and deemed ready to open late\u00a0Thursday. The overnight areas at\u00a0Raven Rock and Pogo remain closed until work there\u00a0can be completed.
