Those looking to green their communities are encouraged to check out the recently released\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/treemendous\/\" target=\"_blank\">2015 order form<\/a>, which features high-quality, native trees and shrubs available at discounted prices for plantings on public lands.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Why plant trees? My favorite Nelson Henderson quote says it all,\u201d said Tree-Mendous Director Anne Gilbert. \u201c&#8217;The true meaning of life is to plant a tree, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tree-Mendous trees and shrubs will be available for pick-up starting in mid-March for planting on any public lands in Maryland, such as community open spaces, school grounds, government facilities and rights-of-way. <em>Maryland Green Schools<\/em>\u00a0receive a one-to-one match on orders up to 20 trees. Purchasers should make sure they receive permission to plant from the facility or land managers before ordering trees.<\/p>\n<p>For the order form and more information, visit\u00a0<a href=\"dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/treemendous\" target=\"_blank\">dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/treemendous<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another Forest Service program, Marylanders Plant Trees,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/trees.maryland.gov\/print-your-coupon\/\" target=\"_blank\">offers $25 coupons<\/a>\u00a0for use at participating nurseries toward the purchase of native trees for planting on\u00a0<em>private <\/em>lands. Those who\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dnr.state.md.us\/forests\/treemendous\/plantinginst.html\" target=\"_blank\">plant<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/trees.maryland.gov\/register-your-tree\/\" target=\"_blank\">register<\/a>\u00a0can observe the environmental benefits of their tree through interactive maps and charts and will be eligible for prizes.
