{"id":7926,"date":"2015-01-09T14:51:36","date_gmt":"2015-01-09T19:51:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/?p=7926"},"modified":"2017-04-14T16:38:31","modified_gmt":"2017-04-14T20:38:31","slug":"dnr-to-host-clean-marina-workshops-in-january","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/dnr\/2015\/01\/09\/dnr-to-host-clean-marina-workshops-in-january\/","title":{"rendered":"DNR to Host Clean Marina Workshops in January"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 230px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone Left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"mdgov_imgLeft\" src=\"https:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8310\/8073757989_6b9d216602.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"177\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>&#8220;Shore Set&#8221; by Kristi Lynn Morris<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Department of Natural Resources invites marina operators to take part in a free workshop on the Maryland Clean Marina initiative, which recognizes and promotes environmentally-responsible marinas, boatyards and yacht clubs.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a program that balances the realities of marina management with the need for environmental protection,\u201d said Donna Morrow, Maryland Clean Marina coordinator. \u201cQualified clean marinas will enjoy cleaner water, cost savings, more responsible customers and positive publicity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming workshops are from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>January 13: Holiday Inn, Solomons<\/li>\n<li>January 15: Holiday Inn Express, Chestertown<\/li>\n<li>January 21: \u201cPip\u201d Moyer Recreation Center, Annapolis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the workshop, staff will provide copies of the <em>Maryland<\/em> <em>Clean Marina Guidebook<\/em>, discuss the structure of the program and the steps necessary to become a certified facility. Staff will also provide a complete overview of the permitting requirements for boatyards and marinas.<\/p>\n<p>DNR requests that interested participants preregister.
