Maryland DNR photo.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two Maryland organizations will receive support for education and stewardship programming to enhance environmental education in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Outdoor education and stewardship funding is made possible from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency\u2019s Chesapeake Bay Implementation Grant. Specific amounts will be contingent upon federal funding availability and approval.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The following organizations were awarded funding through the Maryland Department of Natural Resources:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Accokeek Foundation \u2013 The project integrates traditional ecological knowledge, cultural heritage, and historical context into programs such as the Wild Rice Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience for seventh grade students in Prince George\u2019s County Public Schools and Charles County Public Schools. Students will engage in hands-on restoration activities, planting, collecting data, and maintaining wetland ecosystems.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anne Arundel Community College Environmental Center \u2013 This program will engage community members, Anne Arundel Community College students, high school students and local organizations to participate in field and lab research by collecting data, assessing horseshoe crab population, evaluating shoreline impacts, and fostering stewardship.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Beginning in July, the Department of Natural Resources will accept applications for the next fiscal year through the department\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/ccs\/Pages\/funding\/grantsgateway.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">online \u200bGrants Gateway<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two Maryland organizations will receive support for education and stewardship programming to enhance environmental education in the state.
